Festival Girl Cocktail Recipe

It’s festival season here in California, which means lots of music, flower crowns, and time spent outside in the sun. And all that partying it up outdoors requires a cocktail in hand, right?? This tropical, refreshing drink is perfect for spring weekend afternoons, made with fresh pineapple, mangoes, and PAU Maui Vodka. This particular vodka makes for the ultimate tropical pairing because it’s actually distilled from Maui Gold pineapples at the Hali’imaile Distillery in Upcountry Maui!

And since this season means spending more time outside, it’s a great time to think about ways we can keep the outdoors beautiful! PAU Maui Vodka believes in supporting the environment, and has joined the movement to help end plastic pollution by encouraging the use of paper straws! I am, unfortunately, a major straw user, so it’s helpful to be reminded that simply switching out your straw (or not using one at all) can actually make a big difference. Happy sipping babes!

Festival Girl

2 oz PAU Maui Vodka

2 oz mango juice

Handful of fresh pineapple

1/2 lime, juiced

Sparkling water

Muddle together pineapple and lime juice in a shaker. Add vodka, mango juice and ice and shake well. Strain into a fresh glass filled with ice and top with sparkling water. Garnish with edible flowers, a lime wheel, and a paper straw!

Each month, Shaker & Spoon designs a box around a particular liquor and sends you everything you need to make 3 different recipes (minus the alcohol). I received the “Tequila Blanco” box, which means I got to mix up all of the cocktails with my favorite bar cart tequila – Altos Blanco.  The box came with a Mexican Spice syrup, habañero shrub, tajin seasoning, chili peppers, mole bitters, agave & simple syrup, ginger beer, fresh produce, and three detailed recipe cards. Plus, there are enough ingredients to make four of each cocktail, so you can share them with friends! My favorite recipe from this month’s box was the “Burro Buck,” which combined tequila with the Mexican spice syrup and ginger beer.

For those new to crafting cocktails, Shaker & Spoon also includes a glossary card explaining the methods used in each recipe as well as the specific tools needed. I also love how they include all of the garnishes needed for each of the cocktails, too! If you’re looking to mix up your cocktail routine, or simply want to get some fresh new ideas each month, I’d highly recommend trying out Shaker & Spoon. If you sign up by July 4th, you’ll receive their “Pisco Fever” box which has some yummy tiki flavors that are perfect for summer time!

In the summer time, I’m somewhat obsessed with going to the pool. Any day the sun is out, I want to be laying out in the sunshine, sipping on a cocktail and reading a good book. Throw in some cute pool accessories, and my day is made. To help you experience ultimate pool day, I’ve put together five of my 5 summer pool essentials below!

• Drink floaties: Why hold your own drink when it can float in the pool?! Drink floaties may be some of my favorite pool day accessories since they are so simple to inflate and super fun to use. ban.do now makes their own line of mini floaties, and they come in either round pink +yellow stripes or bright red hearts. And if you’re going to have a drink by the pool, you should probably be sipping out of a pink party straw, too.

• Canned rosé: Judging by the number of canned wines that are popping up in stores, I think it’s safe to say I’m not the only one that thinks portable rosé is a summer pool essential. Winc is currently selling these adorable Ruza rosé cans for the summer, and I think they make for the perfect poolside beverage. If you’re in the mood for a cocktail instead, my Tropical Guava Rum Punch recipe is pretty and pink, too.

• Fresh snacks: Snacks are definitely a pool necessity, and they’re even better when they’re colorful! A plate of fresh tropical fruit pairs perfectly with a can of fizzy rosé and leaves you feeling hydrated, which is a plus. Strawberry papayas are my new fav, too since they are small and such a vibrant color inside.

• A good book: One of the best ways to pass the time in the sun is with a good book in hand. Some of my favorites I’ve read recently include Sweetbitter, The Regulars,  A Game for All the Family, and The Girls.

• A killer playlist: I’m not sure about you, but having music by the pool makes me feel like I’m on vacation. I personally love my Bose Soundlink bluetooth speaker since it’s portable and has a concentrated enough volume so it doesn’t disturb other people nearby. Bob Marley or a Chainsmokers Spotify station has definitely been the go-to playlists for the weekends lately!

Hope you enjoyed these fun pool day tips! + thanks to ban.do for the fun pool day goodies!

Happy Monday! And how amazing are these Printed Palette pieces?! I was so happy to get the opportunity to style these and bring them into my own home decor. I think they are so fun and perfect for summer time. The graphics are incredible and work perfectly with my other decor.

Their little wooden painted box is one of my favorite pieces. I decided to turn it into a Moscow Mule bar box, so we can just bring everything out onto the balcony easily! All of The Printed Palette’s pieces are incredible, and definitely worth checking out.

How often do you find a wall painted mint green?! While we were exploring Catalina, I fell in love with this little spot and knew that we just HAD to take some pictures here. I adore this Free People top that I got recently because it’s the perfect piece for warm spring/summery days . It’s so fun to wear, too! It definitely called out for a flower crown, and this particular little beauty is one of my favs.

I’m also slightly obsessed with this sign by The Printed Palette. It’s already found a place in my home (which there will be a post on soon). I just adore the graphic and meaning behind the print. It’s perfect for this flower child!

If you want to see more of The Printed Palette’s goodies, make sure to check out their website here. I am so happy to say that the product shots Ell & I did last weekend have made it to their online  shop!! My Makers Arcade post has also been featured on their blog. I am one happy camper. Head on over to see!
